C64 OS (2022, Gregory Naçu)

The modern operating system is now up to version 1.05, a few years after its release, thanks to some great improvements.

C64 OS is a modern operating system add-on that balances power and ease of use, while respecting the computer’s modest specifications. C64 OS lets you do things with your Commodore 64 that Commodore would never have imagined.

According to official information, it also takes good advantage of various data storage devices such as SD2IEC, as well as wireless (Wi-Fi) networks and more RAM memory available with various expansion modules (REU).

New version 1.05 – among many other features – now supports Fast App Switching which requires an REU. With this in place, loading apps is done with the new system component, switcher which performs all the same tasks as loader, with the additional ability to freeze the current App to an available REU App-bank.
