For more than a year now, an enhanced version of the famous arcade platform game Toki has been in the works for the Commodore 64, thanks to the initiative of Davide Bottini. The official Commodore 64 version of the game has been around since 1991, but for many, it seemed that the game could get more quality out of this device.
Technically a hack of the original program and not a rewrite from scratch, Toki Remastered will feature greatly improved graphics, a true to arcade soundtrack, and gameplay fixes.

The development of the game may take some time to complete, but as many fans are eagerly awaiting it and the game is now in a testable state, a beta demo version has been released for public download.

After loading the game’s first – and so far only – playable stage, you can choose to listen to the game’s music or sound effects. Both are not yet available at the same time, as in the arcade version, but depending on the technical possibilities, this might be improved. You can change this choice later on by pressing the Space key while playing.
