Passport to Paris (1984, Joyce Hakansson)

Since there are so many hidden gems in the history of the Commodore 64, especially in video games, I thought it was very important to bring them out into the open, so here is my new series of articles starting with this great seasonal title on the first day of summer 2025.

Welcome to Paris. You are a tour guide in charge of 12 eager tourists. Unfortunately, you have received a message that their flight is leaving an hour earlier than scheduled. You must find the 12 tourists or you will be responsible for them missing their return flight.

Gameplay

The player has to search for tourists in six different locations in Paris: the Louvre, Notre Dame, Moulin Rouge, Opera, Montmartre and the Eiffel Tower.

Mini-games

There are different challenges at each site, such as sorting tourist queues, lighting candles, talking to waiters or looking for artists.

Resource management

Players have 200 francs and 12 hours to find tourists and can choose between four different modes of transport: bus, taxi, metro and on foot.

Outcome

The game ends when you run out of time or money, or when you successfully find all the tourists.

As you can see the whole game is VERY atmospheric and the details are wide in gameplays too.
