Bonkers is a platform game currently in development, created by Ole Mogensen for the Commodore 64. Designed in the tradition of flick-screen games, it consists of 20 interconnected screens filled with dangers, puzzles, and strange mechanisms. Although still in development, the game already shows strong creative vision and technical finesse.
Bear Bob was flying his plane to visit his family on Coconut Island when a lightning strike caused his plane to crash.

After lightning strikes his plane, Bob parachutes into a strange and hostile land. Armed only with coconut bombs, water balloons, and his trusty parachute, he must navigate the dangerous terrain to reunite with his loved ones.
On each level, Bob must collect five keys to open the exit. Enemies roam the screen, and if Bob touches them, his health is reduced. However, Bob can fight back with coconut bombs or water balloons. The bombs paralyze enemies, turning them into motionless clouds – in this state, Bob can defeat them by touching them. If they remain motionless for too long, they return to their aggressive form.
The number of bombs is limited, but Bob can replenish his supply by pushing the dispensers with his head. Water balloons are used to extinguish fires caused by bombs, and when their levels are low, they can be refilled at water pipes. Time is also an important factor: the color of the border changes to indicate the passage of time, and when the bonus time reaches zero, mines begin to appear randomly on the field.

Bonkers offers two difficulty levels:
- In Normal mode, Bob has a health bar that decreases when he comes into contact with enemies.
- In Hardcore mode, every contact results in instant death – perfect for experienced players looking for a challenge.
I had an SSD crash a while ago that made me lose some of the source files, setting me back some months, it is frustrating. So for now, the project is on hold while I work on something else (another C64 game :)) – but if Bonkers gets some love, I might pick it up again and finish it.
Trusting in the power of my kind Community, this excellent game development will continue.
