Space-Rat: Cult of Nonsense

Space-Rat is an iconic German sci-fi comic strip from the late 1980s, published in the magazine ASM (Aktueller Software Markt).

The Space-Rat is back with a new adventure – and this time it’s taking place on the screens of the Commodore 64!

The story follows the chaotic adventures of the Lucky Star spaceship and its eccentric crew:

  • Captain Steve Lucas
  • Tโ€™Pow from Vulcan
  • and the mischievous Space-Rat, Ziggy.

In 1993, ASM featured a paper-based point & click adventure called Cult of Nonsense, which later inspired the digital adaptation.

The digital version was initiated by Sรถnke Wolfgramm, who sought permission from the original creator, TIKWA who is not only approved but also created brand-new artwork specifically for the C64 release. Legendary composer Chris Huelsbeck contributed original music, converted into SID format by Roy Widding.

The game is powered by the D42 Adventure System, offering a comfortable point & click interface.

Features:

  • Entirely lunatic story with cult status
  • The first official Space Rat game for the C64!
  • Comfortable D42 Point & Click โ€“ Interface
  • German and English Version (“Der Sinnlos-Kult”)
  • Supports control with joystick and mouse
  • Game progress can be saved and loaded
  • The game is PAL-compatible

The game is currently in development, published by Protovision. A boxed edition is planned, featuring cover art designed by TIKWA. The project stands out as a unique cultural bridge, transforming a cult comic episode into a digital adventure while preserving its humor and absurdity.
