Kung Fu Flash (2019, Kim Jørgensen)

After the release of the famous EasyFlash and EasyFlash³, an improved version of the expansion module was created, called Kung Fu Flash (abbreviated KFF).

Kung Fu Flash can emulate different cartridge types, load PRG files and use D64 disk images. Just place your desired CRT, PRG or D64 files on a FAT formatted microSD card and use the built-in launcher to execute them.

This is also a module that can be inserted into the expansion port. Like the EasyFlash³, it can emulate other plug-in modules and, like the MMC64, the KFF allows the C64 to access a memory card (micro SD card) via a built-in file navigator.

Just copy your CRT, PRG or Dxx images onto a FAT formatted Micro SD and you are ready to go.

Features:

  • Quickly load programs from a micro SD card in FAT16/32 format.
  • Data capacity is limited only by the size of the micro SD card.
  • Excellent cartridge support, including some freezers.
  • Easy firmware update via file browser (UPD file).
  • EF3 utilities, specially tailored for KFF, can be run on the computer via mini-USB connector.
  • Independent reset, menu and freeze buttons for easy operation.
  • PAL and NTSC support.

Since then, Kung Fu Flash has become available from a wide variety of sources, with one of the best price/quality/value ratio available via the following link:

    1. “Kung Fu Flash implements D64 through the high-level KERNAL API and only has a “stub” implementation of the status channel 15. Basically this means that no copy program is going to work and you haven’t much more options than doing LOAD/SAVE to transfer to a real floppy disk.”
