Duck hunting brings to mind the popular Nintendo (NES) video game Duck Hunt. But two enthusiastic Hungarian programmers (Zoltán Bognár, Domokos Varga) have made another game with similar theme named Gun Dogs available for Commodore 64 owners.
Gun Dogs was designed for two players, each controlling a hunter and a hound. The hunters automatically took aim at passing wild ducks, while the player had to shoot at the right moment.

The shot ducks must be collected by moving the dogs and placed in the box next to the hunter. The dogs also have to retrieve ducks that have fallen into the water, where floating logs and fish are an obstacle.
The hunting rifles are always loaded with two rounds at a time, so you must wait after firing the second one, as indicated by the markings at the bottom of the screen.

Players’ dogs can also snatch the duck shot by the opponent, which makes the competition more exciting. There are 4 levels of difficulty in total, with even a fox appearing on the hardest one, stealing the ducks collected in the box.
