The Slot-tastic C=64 Slot Machine – BASIC-coded slot simulation

Developed by Alberto (BCO) Sgaggero in 2024, The Slot-tastic C=64 Slot Machine is a compact slot machine simulation written in Commodore 64 V2 BASIC. Originally created for the VIC-20 as part of the “Slot Machine Game Simulation Challenge” organized by the Facebook group Retro Programmers Inside, it was later ported to the C64.

Gameplay

  • Start the game by pressing any key at the title screen.
  • Insert a coin and pull the lever—again, any key will do.
  • Match the symbols displayed above the slot reels to earn coins.
  • If your balance hits zero, the game ends—but you can restart anytime.

The logic is straightforward, and the symbol combinations are handled entirely within BASIC, making it a neat example of minimalist game design on the C64.

The game is free and thanks to the creator you can also get the source codes of the game in a text file.
