The RGN C64 Gamers’ Choice Award recognises many of the outstanding Commodore 64 games released throughout 2025. Each year, a panel of respected C64 enthusiasts, creators, reviewers and community voices cast votes for their favourite new releases, with titles earning points based on both primary selections and “favourite” designations. This award reflects the collective passion of the Commodore 64 community and highlights excellence across design, innovation, gameplay and overall impact on the platform.
After a competitive field of nominees, “Sherwood” from Griffonsoft emerged as the RGN C64 Gamers’ Choice Award 2025 winner, taking top honours with the highest combined score from the voting panel. “Sherwood” claimed 19 primary selections and 8 favourite votes, finishing clearly ahead of runner-up Musketeer (also by Griffonsoft) and other contenders.

Following the announcement, Ola Zandelin, coder of Sherwood, shared his appreciation for the community’s support, describing the award as both an honour and a strong motivation for the future. Zandelin reflected on his lifelong passion for classic flip-screen arcade adventures, citing early influences such as Bruce Lee and his formative Commodore 64 experiences in the mid-1980s. He confirmed that a third Griffonsoft title is already in prototype development, once again centred on a legendary hero and built around a new weapon-driven puzzle mechanic. Dennis Gustafsson, responsible for the game’s graphics and cover art, echoed the sentiment, expressing that he felt “overjoyed, humbled and proud in equal measure” at the recognition received from the Commodore 64 community.
