Leisure Suit Larry / WiC64meX – Demo (2025, RetroBytes)

This demo presentation uses Sierra On-Line’s 1987 classic, Leisure Suit Larry in the Land of the Lounge Lizards, as a test platform. The RetroBytes team ported the game to the C64, and thanks to WiC64meX, the game is capable of using internet audio streaming.

A serious technological demonstration with modern network and multimedia integration.

The goal is to demonstrate that the C64 is capable of contemporary network and multimedia integration. The C64 used to be a closed system, but now it can integrate content from external web sources.

How to use the demo:
Start the demo, then open
https://mex.wic64.net

in your browser and enter the code shown on your C64 screen.
Once connected, the audio (speech/music/SFX) is streamed through your PC/tablet/phone.

Works on real hardware with WiC64, or in VICE 3.8+.

Enable WiC64 in VICE:
Preferences – Settings – Peripheral Devices – Userport Devices – Userport WiC64

The demo also runs standalone without WiC64 – in that mode you can listen to the complete Larry soundtrack by Nordischsound via the in-game jukebox.
