Doom 64 (Kweepa, 2026)

A technical feat developed for the Commodore 64, in which you must battle the demons of hell. Following his port of Doom for the VIC-20, developer Kweepa has now set his sights on the C64 hardware to deliver the classic FPS experience, taking full advantage of the machine’s capabilities.

Key features:

  • Real elevation changes, elevators and stairs make the levels dynamic.
  • Dynamic lighting effects and dithered textures compensate for the hardware’s limited texturing capabilities.
  • Decimated versions of the original PC speaker sounds set the mood.
  • Sprite-based weapons and enemies ported from the original shareware version.
  • Two versions are available: one with the Krill loader for slower disk drives, and one without for emulators/accelerators.

Credits:

  • Code and design: Kweepa
  • Splash screen: Paul Docherty (d0kk!)
  • Music: Mandy Kane & Nordischsound
